There was one day in the middle of our big trips in September/October that Brad and I were both home (to tell our families we're expecting) and that day was my birthday! I don't know why I was so nervous and scared to tell everyone that day, because we received nothing but positive excitement from everyone. First, we went up to my parents house to celebrate my birthday with my family. I opened up some presents and when I got to the last one, I pulled out a little white onesie that said 'We're having a baby' on it. I was not expecting the reaction that we got! Everyone screamed and jumped out of their chairs and smothered us in hugs. I think they were in shock because none of them even had a clue! Then we went over to Brad's parents house to celebrate and have ice cream :) Brad carefully placed little plastic babies is everyones ice cream bowls as I did my best distracting everyone playing games. It was so hilarious to see the confusion on everyones faces as they found the baby in their ice cream. Terry insisted that something weird and hard was in his ice cream as he poked it with a spoon, as Spencer pulled one of the plastic babies out of his mouth and just stared at us wide eyed with a gigantic smile! Everyone started shouting out "We knew it!" and grabbing us for big hugs - Ha! I guess these things don't keep too secret when you're living in your in-laws basement ;)
I'm wishing we would have documented this better, but I just wanted both of us to really be 'in the moment' when we told our families. I'm just so happy Brad captured these little bits on his phone!
